"The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green earth, dwelling deeply in the present moment and feeling truly alive."--- Thich Nhat Hanh
After living with chronic, unexplained pain for several years, I was diagnosed with seropositive Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2010. Thus began my adventure into the dark and menacing world of pills, needles, supplements, side effects, x-rays, and state-subsidized health insurance. This is a blog of my day-to-day journey through illness, complete with rage, tears, indifference, laughter, grief, hope, and all my other warts. Like all of you, I am a complex person, a walking contradiction, a work in progress. I'm more than a diagnosis: I'm a friend, a partner, a cat mom, a writer, gardener, grower, and creator, a shit-starter, a fit-thrower, and occasionally, your worst nightmare. I will try to be honest, but I can't promise I will be good.
"When you plant seeds in the garden, you don't dig them up every day to see if they have sprouted yet. You simply water them and clear away the weeds..." (Bhikshuni Thubten Chodron)
